DocuWare 7.4 System Requirements (On-Premise)

The following are DocuWare System Requirements for DocuWare 7.4 on-premise installations

• The current user must have local administrator rights on the computer

• .NET 4.8

• Windows Installer 4.5

DocuWare Server and Clients run on the following operating systems:

• Windows 8.1 (64bit)*, Clients also 32 bit

• Windows 10 (64bit)*, Clients also 32 bit

• Windows Server 2012 (64 bit): only for clients, not for Server machines

• Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit)

• Windows Server 2016 (64-bit)

• Windows Server 2019 (64-bit)

* NOT recommended because of strong IIS request limits (10 concurrent requests maximum). User experience might be severely degraded for more than three users. In addition, the corresponding "Home" editions are not supported as operating systems for server machines.
Further restrictions:
Amazon Web Services (AWS) are not supported for running DocuWare, neither for servers nor for clients.
Terminal servers and domain controllers are not supported for DocuWare Server installations.

For Web-based applications, the following browsers are supported:

• Internet Explorer 11

• Firefox 50 and later

• Chrome 54 and later

• Edge Chromium

Databases

• Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016 , 2017 and 2019 [Collation Latin1_General_CI_AS]

• Oracle 12c, 18c and 19c (except for Multitenant Architecture) must be installed on a separate machine [Collation Binary_CS_AS]

• MySQL 5.0 - 5.7 [Collation utf8_general_ci]

Special requirement for DocuWare Desktop:

• If DocuWare Desktop is used on a computer with Windows Server 2008, "Desktop Experience" must be installed.

Special requirements for Connect to Outlook

• Microsoft Office 2013, 2016 and 2019, each in 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and Microsoft 365

• Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019 and Microsoft 365

Special requirements for Connect to Mail

• Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019 and Microsoft 365

Special requirements for DocuWare Request

• .NET 4.5 or higher is required to start a DocuWare Request created with DocuWare Version 7.

Special requirements for electronic signatures

• For the integration of electronic signatures of the type 'biometric' the signature service provider ValidatedID supports these devices.

Special requirements for Intelligent Indexing as local Installation:

• Windows Server 2019 (Standard or Datacenter Edition)

• 4 Processor cores

• 8 GB RAM

• Optional: Installed SQL Server 2019

Intelligent Indexing can be installed on Windows Server (not within VMWare), Ubuntu and Debian.

Hardware Requirements

These requirements are valid for DocuWare Services only! Any additional external application on the same machine require additional resources.

DocuWare Services

• CPU 2 * 2,0 GHz minimum, 4 * 3,2 GHz recommended

• RAM 4 GB minimum, 8 GB – recommended

• Hard disk
  - minimum 5 GB hard disk space
  - SSD recommended
  - documents should be stored on a separate internal hard drive or external storage system

Database

• DocuWare Internal Database:
  CPU: minimum 2 * 1,4 GHz, recommended 2* 3,2 GHz
  RAM: minimum 1 GB
  Hard disk:

• MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle:
  System Requirements of database vendor must be followed

• DocuWare recommends the use of Microsoft SQL-Server as Database system for Systems with more than 1 Million documents (without fulltext index) or with more the 200.000 document pages (with fulltext index).

• When using Workflow Manager, MySQL 32bit is not recommended

• In larger installations we recommend to use a dedicated machine for the database

Fulltext

• DocuWare Fulltext Service (required for searching in the fulltext of the documents):
  minimum 1 * 1,4 GHz, recommended 2* 3,2 GHz
  RAM: minimum 1 GB, recommended 2 GB

• In larger installations we recommend to use a dedicated machine for the fulltext.

  RAM: 8 GB (DocuWare Services + 1 GB (Internal Database) = 9 GB

  CPU: 2 x 2,0 GHz (DocuWare Services + 2 x 1,4 GHz (MSSQL 2014 Standard) + 1,4 GHz (Fulltext)= 5 x 2,0 GHz

• RAM: 4 GB (DocuWare Services) + 1 GB (MSSQL 2014 Standard) + 1 GB (Fulltext) = 6 GB

• Recommended Resources:
  CPU: 4 x 3,2 GHz (DocuWare Services) + 2 x 2,0 GHz (MSSQL 2014 Standard) + 2 x 3,2 GHz= 8 x 3,2 GHz
  RAM: 8 GB (DocuWare Services) + 4 GB (MSSQL 2014 Standard) + 2GB (Fulltext) = 14 GB
